FYI

Hi all well we have finally got one car fixed so it looks like the boss & I will be heading for Mildura either Sunday or Monday. as a result I wont be able to do the blog for the next few weeks. We really aren't sure whether we will be away 2weeks or 4 weeks. It's a real devil being retired and having to make all these decisions. May be Brett can fill in for me whilst I am away. At least his post will make some sense.

ABA 3 arrow 24/3/12

I'm writing this in a state of euphoric happiness, what a beautiful day, little to no wind about 25 degrees, wow! Just how good can it get. Car after car arrived, every second car that arrived contained a family that we didn't recognise. At one stage we had more newcomers than old members. Grandad was down at the practice range with 2 families whilst I was entertaining another newcomer, as I escorted them to the practise range another car load arrived. Fortunately Brett also arrived and we were able to hand a new Family to him. Dave had arrived with his daughter who is about 5, then two little girls tumbled out of one of the cars & the 3 off them had a ball playing together. It was lovely to see. Several wives came to watch their partners or sons have a go at our sport. Cupcake was delighted to see so many ladies. Whilst on that Gary from Nambucca arrived with Zac But no wife. Could I make a formal request that The boss in Gary's family please, please come Karen & Gloria would love to see you. The scores on the day were simply unbelievable Steve came in with a massive 386 and looked like claiming the day till Dave wondered in with a jaw dropping 392. He didn't say much as we all sat around afterwards but the total look of contentment oozed from every pore, he was one very happy chappy. Young Zac Ward had a PB of 338. Gary who had travelled up from down Port way, told me he had an absolute ball, even helped with the housework. Gloria held her new bow for the first time, a beautiful Pearl White Hoyt Rampage XT she scored 316, which is about average, what made it special was she had no sight marks and had only shot about 12 arrows from the bow. As most of you know MVA is the home of one of world sports greatest rivalries Grandad, Cola Karen & Teabag wage war on a weekly basis. As a relative new comer to the intense world of sporting warfare Cola Karen is becoming a real threat. Teabag finished 2011 on a high, but since 2012 ticked around Grandad has climbed to unassailable heights, week after week he has ground Teabag into the dirt, last week at Taree his victory was so decisive poor old Teabag was only a shadow of his normal self, confidence totally destroyed, frustration erupting like a volcano. Almost totally relegated to a state of total inadequacy. Teabag must have made about 5,000 cups of tea, (our wager on the outcome) Now roll on 24 March Teabag returns one of his best scores ever and Grandad returns just an average score for this year...... WE TIED!!!! Yahoo teabag is back. Scribe Neil displayed incredible skill, Neil is a finger shooter and on a long down hill series 5 target He stood at full draw, arrow ready to launch. Then in the blink of an eye, he released and removed the arrow from the string. The shaft fell to his feet and the resultant dry fire echoed around the valley. Neil gingerly examined his bow. his state of mind was not helped by the comment that the next shot would tell him if every thing was OK. Then as calm as you like he sent 3 arrows into the target. when your hot your hot.

Scores for the day:-Feathers Dave 392, Don't mention me Steve 386, Coins Alastair 384, Don't tie with me Brett 380, Scribe Neil 372, Hitchhiker Dion, Grandad Cec & Teabag 370, Homebrew Garry 366, Big Zac 364, Holiday Park Gary 342, Little Zac 338 PB, Cupcake Gloria 316, Fingers Ray 324, Yellow Peg Stewart 348, South Side Gary 254, Liam 214, BP Glenn 356.

Next week there will be a small working bee your help will make it easy for everybody. We understand that not every member can physically do the heavy jobs, but there are a number of jobs that even the old and frail can do. So hop in and help make this club the best that it can be.

Till next week cheers Teabag.

Well well, this happy little band of campers made it all the way to Taree. What a beautiful weekend. Slight showers followed by a huge downpour, just as we were drying off. Grandad simply hadn't read the script and as a result shot really well. As my kind wife pointed out on the way home Grandad was the only one with a first place, as if I needed to know that. I can't give you the scores as they are in the caravan which is not with us at the moment and we will be away for the next week so it is this or nothing. We held a very touching and somewhat sacred burning ceremony. We all stood around chanting whilst Brett burned his offending score card. A very moving service. Karen, Gloria & Alastair were absolutelly thrilled when the weekend came to an end. (I will eagerly await my cuppa.) Glenn felt Sunday was a waste of time. Probably the best efforts on the weekend were from Neil & Cec. Both shot really well. Fingers had a good time. whilst Feathers entertained the Cubs behind his group with a trail of wet, soggy, feathers.

All in all a good weekend. see you all on Saturday.

Cheers Teabag

ABA 3 arrow 10 march

What a beautiful day & lots of people turned out to enjoy the day. A few leeches arrived for the party and a great time was had by all. Grandad took my advise and returned a more sensible score. Karen decided to follow my guidance and once again allowed domestic bliss to return to the Smedley household, ah! all is well. As those of you who read this rubbish regularly will know Grandad & I have developed a friendly rivalry, Karen has also been only slightly ahead of me and I think it's fair to say we all like to best the other and get the valuable bragging rights. Unfortunatelly Grandad & Cola Karen have both gone up a notch and left poor old Teabag in their wake, a problem that brings me to my next question. Is their anybody in the club who would like to join our little circle, very few requirements the main one being that Teabag can on most shoots actually beat you. Anybody at all. Cubs are ok rank beginners are better. At this point even somebody who can't see, has never shot and can't afford more than 1 arrow would be perfect. I await your application. The scores for the day are:

Coins Alastair 388, Feathers Dave & BP Glenn 376, Cola Karen 374, Grandad Cec 366, Stewart 344, Cupcake Gloria 326, Brad 306, Finger Ray 300, Liam 258, Princess Ebony 150, Bruce 130

Don't forget next week most of us will be at Taree.

club meeting plus ABA 1 arrow 3/march

Hi all I would have posted this yesterday except I have been in a deep medically induced coma.
A state made necessary by reading Grandads score. Bl**dy heck what on earth was he thinking & whilst I am at it what were Brett, Karen & Alastair thinking by letting him do it. Has it not occurred to any body that such excitement for Grandad & frustration for Teabag could lead to early departure from this planet. Shame, shame, shame on all of you. Karen has also forgotten the basic rules of domestic bliss. Well the rules as far as we chauvanistic males are concerned. Scores for the day: Don't tie with me Brett & Grandad 390, Karen 376, BP Glenn 370, Coins Alastair 366, Feathers Dave 364, Fingers Ray 326, Peter B bear 190.
Back to bed now

ABA Branch shoot Feb 25 & 26

yes I know these are late, sorry but it was unavoidable. Now where to start. We had 63 shooters which made us very happy & we in turn made a lot of people very happy. The food was the usual high standard. Thanks Narelle, Karen & Neil. Those three did the bulk of the work. That noise you can hear is loud clapping. Thanks. Thanks also to anybody who ducked in and gave a hand. The axe Block again drew favourable comments. I think moving it to the new location was a master stroke well done Ray & Dave plus helpers. The raffle prizes were high quality & lots of them. We even won one Yahoo! I felt the ranges were in great condition with the new targets offering all of us a wee challenge, all of us mortals anyway. Jake Collins from SAS shot 398, 396 & 800 for the two arrow. Now that is some effort. Range setters please note the rest off us do not need punishing because of Jake's efforts. Something like 58 shooters entered the teams event. I have allready had Emails congratulating the club on holding this event. Results are

Hoyts, SAS, 1st, Coasties Tuggerah 2nd, Griffins SAS 3rd, Dr. Who Manning 4th, Why Manning 5th, Pink Panthers Namoi Valley 6th, They all tied on points and placings were decided on count back. The cane toad shoot drew a massive crowd of shooters and support staff. Well done Brett.

Cec and crew did a great job on the ranges. All in all a good weekend

Poor Martin drew the booby prize and had to spend the weekend with Gloria & I. We enjoyed his company but not sure he enjoyed shooting with two geriatrics. He was polite thoughtful & helpful. A credit to himself & his Mum & Dad.

Grandad absolutelly wiped the floor with poor old Teabag. It may take many months to get over the thrashing he gave me. Well done Grandad. Young Josh Scott had a great weekend, He shot really well, won some part of the axe & Knife plus the cane toad shoot.

I hope every body had a great time I know I did.

Cheers Teabag.
