Sat 22nd Sept 3 arrow Anthill Range

Hi all Sorry about last week but as you know we were away at Tuggerah for the Branch IFAA titles 6 of our members made the trip and we came back with 2 branch champions, well done Karen & Gloria.
Karen shot 2 PB's including a 500 on the second day and Cupcake had a PB in terms of arrows broken......4 in one go whilst falling over, must curtail her drinking next time. Ooh! ouch! sorry I was only joking.
This week most of the Macleay Valley turned up to have a go & 23 archers wondered around the range. I think we even had a couple or three people join the best club in the land. Alastair shot a sizzeling 392, closely followed by Gary on 388 and Brett on 386. This is just an observation but the 5 archers who shot the IFAA last week all returned really good scores this week. Dave took out the prized Long bow section with a pretty smart 206, whilst Marty shot from the red peg and still shot 378. Cec & I went round with a new family who shot really well not quite up to my standard but very, very, close.
Scores for the Day: Coins Alastair 392, Home Brew Gary 388, Don't tie with me Brett 386, Cola Karen 380, Martin McFly 378, Scribe Neil 370, Nick 370,  Grandad 368, Mad Max Stuart 366, CupCake Gloria 362, Hitchhiker Dion 358, Fingers Ray 334, Yellow Peg Stewart 312, Teabag 304, Sam 292,  Tom 284, Mick 266, Leach Bait Bruce 250, BC Liam 232, Feathers Dave 206, Gordon 164 PB, Matt 157, Nic 102,
I should also mention that Fingers Ray shoots bare bow which means no fancy stuff on his bow, Ray isn't the only one in the club shooting this way but 334 is a very good score.
Til next time cheers and stay safe.

3 arrow 8th Sept 2012

Hi all I am proud to announce the winner of this weeks shoot is.........Cola Karen.

This is a well deserved result and shows what a level playing field archery is.
Well that would be the headline if only her hubby had played the game. Alastair you are a real spoil sport.

Despite not shooting I must have done something right as both Granddad & Karen made me a cup of tea, Pure Bliss

In a move that had us all pinching ourselves in disbelief Bruce and his Fair maiden arrived for the day, I think that is a first for 2012. Now all we need is the iron chef to lob up. I took my swag and pillow laid it out in the club house whilst the active people went round the range.

I was awakened by the start of world war three. The tanks were attacking and severe injury  seemed only seconds away. Turns out I had panicked for nothing, it was only the neighbor taking his very large D something bulldozer for a stroll. Did give me a start though. Poor Granddad couldn't see the last target again. It's a bit like watching a train wreck in slow motion, never mind Daylight saving will fix it for you.
Chris shot a well deserved PB, Fingers had a great barebow score. Young Nic tried a few shots from the red peg, Nic if you are reading this concentrate on the green peg until you can consistently score in the high 360. It is really hard for you to judge your improvement if you keep chopping and changing.

Scores:  Coins Alastair 386, Cola Karen 384, Bruce 376, Granddad Cec 366, Cupcake Gloria354, Chris 348 PB, Fingers Ray 338, Nambucca Gary 330, SWR Brad 296, Sixpenny Zac 290, Yellow Peg Stewart 288, Nic 204.

1 arrow Sept 1 followed by meeting

G’day Mike,
Myself and my two sons, as well as one of my sons friends attended a shoot on the 1st of September.
We found the friendship and guidance brilliant under the hand of Brett and the friendship of all of the members very welcoming.
This is a new sport for us and we will have no hesitation in joining you all again for a great challenge.
Thank you.
Mick.Tom.Nick Burke.
Well that about says it all doesn't it. It confirms what I have been saying about this club for a long time now.  Well done Brett and all the members who made this family feel welcome.
We also had a lovely polite young lady get her Dad to bring her out to the club as she wanted to try archery after trying it at camp. I hope she takes the sport up as we need more ladies and this girl looks like she will make a very good archer. With the exception of Granddad most scores were a little of the boil this week, may have been the wind or it could have been general disappointment that Teabag had a painful day.
Scores:- Granddad Cec 384, Don't tie with me Brett 374, Rabbits Nic & Coins Alastair 372, Cola Karen 358, Cup Cake Gloria 342, Chris 328, Sam 326, Jake 280, SWR Brad 274, Leach Bait Bruce 252, BP Glenn 248, Finger Ray 246,  Long bow Baily 230, Yellow Peg Stewart 206, Young Nic 140, Teabag 16. Any body have a fix for really sore shoulders?

For those that didn't know, Bruce is a trained ship-rite I think that's the right word. He did an apprenticeship in timber boat building. Well after seeing a few long bows he has started making one for himself and he showed us at the club at the weekend. I'm in love, the workmanship was simply stunning. I believe an oldish club member has already ordered one for him or her self. I am being vague here to protect Cec's identity. If any of you have a slight interest in trying the mystical art of Longbow shooting Bruce's bows would be a good place to start.

To all the Dad's Have a happy Fathers Day.
See you all soon.
Cheers Teabag
