Karen, Gloria,Brett & Alastair made up the shooting part of the Macleay indoor team:
Whilst Daffy Duck second from the left as you are looking at it, was there for his good looks.
What an awesome team it was. As you can see Daffy (alias Teabag) was the only one without a medal. All team members had competition. It really was a good weekend, everything almost ran like clockwork and the catering staff wouldn't have been out of place at a footy grandfinal. The volume and quality was first class.
Scores:- round scores out of 300, match out of 600 with 120 arrows shot.
Coins Alastair 300 with 33 X's and 299 with 37 X's total 599 70 x's second.
Cola Karen      279 and 280 Total 559 Second
DTWM Brett   279 and 284 Total 563 second
Cupcake Gloria 250 and 254 Total 504 First
Some really top shooting happened at the weekend such as  Ray White  594, Alana Buscombe 12 Years old on Sunday 579, Alex White 13 on Monday 586 but the absolute top award must go to Scott Buscombe. 300 54 X's and 300 55x's so out of 120 arrows Scott missed the X, 11 times Hell I don't even hit it 11 Times.

3A anthill 20/10/12

Can you believe 20 rather demented souls trudged around in the heat of yesterday, we travelled for about 5 hours to get to the shoot and were heard to complain the the cars aircon wasn't working really well, when we stopped and got out we found out just how good the aircon was working. Boy it was warm, made sleeping on the benches really difficult. Team Smedley were once again at the pointy end of the event. Fellow club members lift your game as this is becoming a bit of a habit, I do my bit by not shooting so it's up to you. In what I think is a few firsts A husband and wife team tied with 388 each, also they came first as the blog writer it was up to me to decide a winner, since I am used to making hard decisions I shall declare Kola Karen the winner. I shall now present my case to support my decision.Karen's highest score is 388 there for she achieved 100% of her demonstrated and known ability, whilst Alastair on the other hand has shot a 400. So by only shooting 388 he has only achieved 97% of his known ability. hence and indisputably Karen wins, besides I think it was her that supplied cake. Geez bribery comes cheap.
Well done to all that finished yesterday I didn't envy you at all. Yellow peg Stewart cracked the 300 barrier again. Alan & Jessie went round the range and both acquitted themselves well as did Don I think all 3 shot PB's. Chris shot a 364 which gave him a PB for the day. 364 really lifts you out of the beginners class well done Chris. It amazed me how many tied scores we had. Bruce went really well and finally managed to get one up on Ray. The Ussher family performed very well with a 380 & 372. Granddad wasted a good round with me not shooting. Scores for the day:
Cola Karen 388, Coins Alastair 388, Martin McFly 380, Home brew Garry380, Scribe Neil 372, Granddad Cec 372, Don't tie with me Brett 370, Frosty Chris 364 PB, Bp Glenn 360, Sam 350, Cupcake Gloria 348, SWR Brad 348, Uni Tim 330, Yellow Peg Stewart 316, Leach Bait Bruce 308 BB, Fingers Ray 304 BB, Don 256 PB, Alan 240 PB , Jessie 166 PB, BC Liam 164 BB.
   Till next time stay happy.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

What a super weekend. The queen, the president and both Julia & Tony arrived to see how the happy people spend their weekend, boy were they surprised. The first of the summer cyclones arrived as well and created havoc with strong winds, heavy rain & a touch of snow. All in all a very entertaining weekend.
Ok I wasn't there and made all that up, naughty Teabag. So what really happened, well it appears that Martin & Alastair waged all out war for supremacy , with both of them scoring 390 out of 400. I believe that was a PB from the red peg for Martin. I think I will move a motion that all juniors must let all seniors win. Yep that seems fair. Don also decided he could put up with us all again, hope you enjoyed the day Don.
The surprise of the day was Matt & Cooper arriving to shoot. I have no idea how Matt remembered where we were, they both shot really well. Ray has continued to shoot well and is heading rapidly to masters grade, keep going Ray

Scores for the weekend:-
Scores (Max 400): Martin Mcfly 390 (PB), Coins Alastair390, Hitchhiker Dion 374, Granddad Cec  372, Karate Matt 364, BP Glenn 360, Frosty Chris 356, Fingers Ray 332 BB, Pig Hunter Cooper 324, Yellow Peg Stewart 262, Don Osbourne 216, Builder Peter 178 BB.

Come & try weekend Oct 2012

Well that was an interesting weekend. A big thank you to the members who organized the weekend and then gave up 2 days to help the club prosper. Fingers spent most of the weekend in the bale press. I think he has a love affair going on. Several people took advantage of the weekend and gave archery a whirl. I thought a few of the newer members may have used the weekend to fine tune their style.
The promo trailer moves on to the next venue, so hopefully it will help convert a few new archers.

Several members and a few visitors went round the range on Saturday whilst on Sunday we shot an indoor round, very confusing, we shot indoor whilst being buffeted by strong winds, well Fingers & I were buffeted, we were on the end of the line, We also appeared to have lost the roof and walls, anywhere else in the world and we would have been outdoors, just shows what a good imagination can do.

Mid afternoon after everything was repaired and put away, 4 of us went around the range. By target 11, I had to call it quits I was actually ahead of Granddad, Cupcake & Fingers. Bugger when your hot your hot but in mycase I was just stuffed. All in all a very pleasant arvo. Geez Fingers was shooting well. Annoying little bugger.
Saturdays Scores were:-
Coins Alastair 390, Martin Macfly 384, Granddad Cec 368, Fingers Ray 324 BB, Yellow Peg Stewart 308, Lincon 304, Linda 266, Conrad 256, Kellie 228, Tom 228, Jamilla 184, BC Liam 182 BB, Mat 164, Leach Bait Bruce 150 BB

Now Linda, Jamilla, Lincon & Conrad went home to Woollongong after the shoot, great family and welcome any time. Kellie came out to have another go and all indications are she may join, which would be great.

Special mention to Bruce who went round with his home made Long Bow, the workmanship is fantastic and when he gets a few issues sorted his bows will be valued by all.
Cupcake & I have to go to Qld for the ABA AGM so wont be there next week and may or may not be back for the week after that, so till next time Take care

ABA 3arrow 29th Sept

Hi all I am proud to announce the winner of this weeks shoot is.........C.... Hold that thought, I just remembered some other things.
Firstly don't forget next weekend is the come and try weekend. This should be a good time for all from the person who just wants to give it a go, to really old people like Granddad, Fingers & Yellow Peg. I just realised that 2weeks ago I celebrated 52 years of playing with a bow & arrow in a club scene. I can still remember my dear old Dad lecturing me about the cost and how this better not be a flash in the pan. Sorta wish he was still here so I could say "Told you so."
On Saturday 52,347 people turned up to give it a go, hope they can say "52 years ago I started at the Macleay Valley Archers." 2 separate families travelled all the way from Wollongong, which as we all know is the W in NSW. I don't think they knew each other but had heard about how friendly our club is so made the small effort to be here. I suppose they could have been here on holidays, nah that doesn't make sense.
At the end of the shoot I did my world famous impersonation of a landed fish closely followed by Cupcake leading the entire club on a bush walk.
Oh the joy and sounds of  happiness reverberated through the tranquil bush setting.
I would like to thank everybody for their efforts in finding Cupcakes eyes, for how else could she see my beauty. THANK YOU.

Now back to my original thought..... Hi all I am proud to announce the winner of this weeks shoot is.........Cola Karen.
Yes she finally did it again and this time Hubby didn't spoil the headline. for those that are interested I may have exaggerated the number of new comers, I think we had about 11 turn up. With so many and my tired befuddled brain just can't sort out who was who. I do know that several people had a great time including a family from the deep south who went round the range with us and also supplied their own bread when we ran out. I tried to explain we are a depressed area, so all is good.
Stuart brought a brand new but very large cannon to shoot. He offered to let me pull it back but at 82# draw weight my hemorrhoids would have been dragging on the ground. Thanks for the venison samples, they went down a treat.
Scores for the day:-
Cola Karen 378, Mad Max Stuart 372 PB, Coins Alastair 366, Granddad Cec 358, Teabag 350, CupCake Gloria 344, Fingers Ray 338 BB, Yellow Peg Stewart 328, Conrad 300, Linda 280, Lincon 278, Frier Tuck Gary 226, Jamilla 180, Builder Pete 166 BB
Till next time Cheers Teabag
