May 26th ABA 3A & Int IFAA

Hi all, First things first next week is a 1 arrow ABA followed by the club AGM. If you want a say in the clubs direction this is a good meeting to attend, nominations have been received for all positions, so you won't get dobbed in for anything.
With regard to the weather this week, see last week and double it.As you know the club decided to run an international IFAA in the morning. 7 off us took part Garry Ward only had time to shoot in the morning so that allowed him to shoot where normally he would have missed out good move from my point of view. Scores were pretty good Particularly Alastairs.Maximum score 150, results were Alastair 136, Brett 128, Karen 127, Gary 126, Mike 110, Gloria 108, Ray 82.

After all the coming & going settled down we had 13 Archers attack the ABA round. 6 Archers shot their best score for the year, due to the fact that my eye sight isn't the best & I was on cloud nine which is a long way from anywhere, I didn't see who they were. Liam shot another PB as did Teabag.

Brett scored a massive 390, top shooting Brett. Alastair shot his usual very solid 386, boy is he consistent. Karen & Cec both shot magnificently, they showed outstanding style, grace & endurance. Arrow after arrow crashed into the A zone. Their form was so good they wouldn't be out of place at any shoot in Australia, all in all a super display of archery......oh! nearly forgot I beat them both. I had so many cups of tea coming I could have had a bath in the stuff. To say I was thrilled is an understatement.

The Kempsey old age retirement village had entered a team comprising of Ray, Cec, Gloria & I, loosely called the pensioners club. In an act of complete confusion Glenn arrived late and joined our group. With prostrates being what they are in old fellas, members of our group kept disappearing followed by the sound of gently running water, only to have them reappear with a happy smile. What a happy little bunch of vegemites we were.
Scores for the day :- Don't tie with me Brett 390, Coins Alastair 386, Teabag 384 PB, BP Glenn 380, Cola Karen, Martin McFly & Grandad Cec 378,  Hitchhiker Dion 376, Scribe Neil 372, BC Liam 284 PB,  CupCake Gloria 338, Fingers Ray 318, Leach Bait Bruce154.

ABA 3 arrow 19/5/12

Oh joy of joys what fantastic weather, Approx 4.5 million archers turned up to enjoy the day & what a day it was, little to no breeze, blue sky, sunshine, birds all a twitter, flowers turning their heads to the sun, leaves playing a symphony of nature, (yes I know there was no breeze) the beautiful sound of a small crystal clear babbling brook and good friends all combined to make this one special day. The longer I spend in archery the more sure I am that this sport attracts a certain type of person, the type of person that you would be happy to take home to meet mum so to speak. This year hasn't been the best for me both health wise and shooting wise & sometimes it's hard to know if the shooting effects my health or does the health effect my shooting. I haven't actually finished a round since Easter and my shooting was going down hill rapidly. It had got to the point where I looked forward to going to the club to socialise but not to shoot. A few weeks ago Cec had climbed out of his sick bed to come & help he even shot poorly at Avon to encourage me. But Avon was the worst weekend shooting wise I have had in as long as I can remember. My bow was a brute to shoot and it was all to difficult. Hence plan B, I rang Alastair and asked if he could have a look at the bow for me & he happily said yes. I arrived at the appointed time and spent the next 2 hours offering advise to him on how to fix my bow, all of which he, thankfully, ignored. After all the adjustments & muffled threats were finalised my old bow was back.
It somehow had transformed from an ugly duckling into a beautiful Swan. Thank you Alastair, thank you Cec, between you, you have returned my love of archery That folks is why archery is special, Your main rivals will help you when you need it. It was great to see members of the Scott family arrive thank heaven for photo ID or we wouldn't have had any idea who they were. Grandad claims to have lost his rake & shovel. As if. Don't forget membership fees are now due & for most of us so are the ABA fees. More on that later. The AGM is on the Second of June.

Next Saturday 26th of May we will be holding an international round in the morning starting at 10:00am followed by lunch and the normal 3 arrow in the arvo. This is not compulsory but allows those that want to, to shoot more arrows.
And now the scores:- Coins Alastair 392, Grandad Cec 384, Scribe Neil, Martin McFly & Teabag 372, Cola Karen 368, Mad Max Stuart 358, Home Brew Garry 348, CupCake Gloria 332, Swr Brad 320,  Pea Wee Josh 314, old Yellow Peg Stewart 300, Finger Ray 280.

NSW State IFAA titles 12/13 May 2012

Well we arrived at Avon mid afternoon Friday. It was dry & warm so I checked the GPS co-ordinates and yes we were at Avon  Strange that it was dry but it did lead into a beautiful weekend. 12 Macleay ites made the trip and we acquitted our selves very well indeed. Ray, Karen, Stephen & Gloria all came home as State champions. Karen & Gloria also won the medals for overall champions in their respective classes. Dean & son Sean went to their first branch shoot and first IFAA shoot. Both of them did really well. I think Dean is going to be a real asset if he keeps shooting like this. Sean cooks a mean sausage as well. Karen & Alastair celebrated 22 years of married bliss. Which is 2 years longer than you get for murder. Alaistair & Dave continued their private war with Alastair winning by 2 points. Grandad had a bit of sympathy for teabag, but teabag just wasn't up to the task. Garry & Brett were both in with na chance but got pipped at the post by Tony, Tony & Tony. If only they were called Tony. Leach bait Bruce & Sir Dryfire turned up at the club and I believe they turned 90 meters of old fencing in to fire wood. Thanks. This weekend was the best attended state or branch IFAA shoot with 90 entries.

ABA 1 arrow & club meeting 5/5/12

At the club meeting a several points were discussed, for those that are interested full minutes will be available at the club relatively soon. A notice of motion was tabled re the constitution. All it means is that the constitution has to have minor changes made to comply fully with the latest government regulations for incorporated clubs. The changes can be debated at the next meeting, but we don't really have any choice. Incorporation is designed to protect honest committee members from legal challenges, it also protects club members. For example without incorporation clubs could be sued with each committee member being a co-defendant and if needed then rank & file members could be added. If the case was lost the clubs assets would be sold, then the assets of the next most financial committee member and so on. they would then move onto the membership. These assets were the family home, money & anything else of value. Governments in about 1979 realised that this was not good for clubs or any voluntary organisations and so they brought in the concept of incorporation. Along with this protection came a raft of rules that had to be followed, such as including the word Inc. after the clubs name, Karen has just been checking the latest rules hence the minor changes. Thanks Karen, I usually fall asleep after page 1.
It's amazing no matter how old you get you still learn every day, take this for example. As you know Alaistair is the mens' club champion, Now Feathers has been giving him a hard time score wise. In an absolutely brilliant move Coins pointed out to Feathers that his little girl was getting cold and it may not be good for her to be outside in this wind. Feathers agreed and immediately packed up and went home to the fire. Very clever competition gone and a feel good moment all at once. Know if I can just find a way to send Alaistair, Karen, Grandad, Cupcake & 25 others home. Cupcake had a shocker we worked out that with her head swelling somewhat after seeing the paper her anchor moved upsetting her site marks. Hopefully she wont see this.
Gary & Zac arrived from Nambucca but no Mum. Next time Janelle you either come or I want a written note of explanation.
Southside Gary has moved into the honory position of Sir Dryfire, capably guided by the club coach he managed to launch a pillar of fresh air and derailed his bow. well done you two for most of us it only takes one person.
Scores for the weekend were generally very good:-Coins Alastair 382, Cola Karen & Sixpenny Zac 376, Grandad Cec 372, Fingers Ray 306, Nambucca Gary 304, Yellow Peg Stewart 300, Sam 290,  Brad 238,
Sir Dryfire Gary 102DNF, Cupcake R/s, Teabag DNF.
