1 arrow, club meeting 24 -11 -12

Lets start with the club meeting all in all it was a quick, quiet meeting and that usually means everybody is happy. Which I think we can say is the case.

Don't forget the clubs christmas shoot is on the 15th of December ( I think) and you can camp over.

Next week is the final branch shoot for 2012. The branch is trying to organise some entertainment for Sat night via a no-talent quest. So far 3 of our members have allowed their arms to be twisted and will feature on the night. Brett is even bringing his own balls.

Finally the shoot. I shot a pretty terible score and didn't reach the end. To hot and humid for little me. Strangely I couldn't buy a twenty, but I came home very happy with my shooting. It just felt right except for the 1 I launched into space. Line was impecable all day. I replaced my lizard tongue rest with my old drop down rest in an effort to correct a small problem I am having letting down with the hinge release, I must not have it quite right as it made over 10metres difference to the sight settings. Hence I spent most of the day hitting low. Archery really is a funny sport, you can shoot somewhere near a PB and be unhappy or shoot like S**T and come home happy. Go figure.
Feathers is still trying to shake the flu so from all of us to you feathers, get well real quick we miss you. Grandad shot a 376 for the 4th time in a row.
Scores for the day:-Coins Alastair 386, Granddad Cec 376, Cola Karen 368, Mad Max Stuart 366, Don't tie with me Brett 360, Cupcake Gloria 328, Yellow Peg Stewart 274, Teabag 272.
Bare Bow Fingers Ray 306, BC Liam 216, Don 214.

weekend of the 17th & 18th Nov

Firstly has anybody seen Fingers he was last seen in the bale press and we are a little concerned he may have been baled up and ready to go out on the range. Maybe this weekend we will find him.
I think things were a little quiet at the club last weekend. as I wasn't there if there is any news that you would like to pass on just let me know ( email address at the side).
Gloria, Glenn and myself travelled to Singleton for the branch 3D shoot. below is how an exec member saw the weekend

SAS shoot was brilliant – nice weather (except the darned flies – pesky persistent things). 53 shooters Saturday, 54 Sunday. No 400’s, ranges were good. I’ve decided that SAS now stands for Singleton Ant Society as they seem to have every species of ant imaginable on their ranges (from little to whopping great bull ants) only a few people got bitten though so not too bad. SAS have tried to kill them, but they just seem to pop up somewhere else overnight.

I have to agree. The flies were very pesky, I had forgotten how anoying the little beggers can be, and ants, literally millions of them in all shapes and sizes. Poor little Lucy who is only six got bitten through her clothing and boy does that little girl have a set of lungs. The poor little darling, Dad took her back to the campsite, Mum gave her some much needed tlc. And little Lucy became her normal self again. Not sure what Mums do but it sure works.
Our contingent accquited themselves very well. Scores below:-
Cupcake Gloria Flt/2 womens  3A 368 1A 366 2A 674 total 1408 First
Bp Glenn  Flt/2 mens                  3A 350 1A 368 2A 684 total 1402 Second
Teabag     vet sighted                  3A  358 1A 324 2A 684 total 1366 First

We all had a good time and looking forward to next weekend. We need to now who is going to Hunter. A little plan I am trying to hatch so let me know.
Till next time take care.

10/10 goanna range

Firstly a correction to last weeks scores BP Glenn only scored 378 not 388 as was listed. For 10 points the bribe needs to be a little bit higher. I have my pride you know. Now for this week what pure unadulterated joy it was to wonder around our beautiful bush, with only a few sticks and such for equipment. In the rain. which turned a few patches into mud which I managed to examine from close quarters when I slipped on a wet Branch and reduced my height from about 185cm to about 15cm. I can report it was raining down there as well. Wooden shafts bend remarkably well when hit with 120kilos travelling at 35 feet per sec/second. All 5 off them.
For those that couldn't make it and if you read the title are wondering what is a 10/10. Simple really you shoot the first 10 targets as a 3 arrow round and the second ten as a 1 arrow round. It was an idea that was put forward by the branch score recorder in branch F, to allow for a shorter form of the full 2 round game.
The result was for the top guns it made no difference. Ray, Dave, Liam, Muriel and Myself all found the 1 arrow section reduced the score in the normal way. Nobody complained about the round, I found it interesting and Muriel who was having her first go at archery Really liked it as her arm was getting tired, thus the 1 arrow made it easier.
I actually would like to see all beginners start with this round. Particularly in winter. Why? Glad you asked, several reasons actually some just plain selfish. 1. The beginner gets to try both the 3 & the 1 arrow format very early. At our club it can be weeks or even months before they try the 1 arrow round. 2. It does make for a quicker round for that group and for all who are behind them, we had 4 in our group Muriel & mainly I were using everything at every target with the result that for the first 10 targets we were holding up the group behind us at every target. In the last 10 we pulled away from them. 3. Newcomers do not have the initial bow strength that we all develop over a few weeks Unless they are young or weightlifters and this format allows them to shoot less arrows as they become tired.
Scores sighted: Granddad Cec 376, BP Glenn 366, Rabbits Nic 350, Pig Hunter Cooper 342, Karate Matt 340, Cupcake Gloria 332,
Bare bow: Fingers Ray 272, BC Liam 254, Don 244, Feathers Dave 232, Muriel Sellers 156 PB, Teabag 104.
Next week some of us will be away at the branch shoot at Singleton. Grandad will be getting married, sorry at a wedding. So he won't be bringing any BBQ stuff, drinks, ice or club bows. If anybody wants any of this please arrange with Cec what to do etc.
Till next time stay happy.

3a Goanna Range

I have to say that nice man who cooked the egg & bacon rolls did a fantastic job. Good looking fellow as well.
Tom & Jessica arrived for the first time, well second time actually but last Sunday really doesn't count. Dad only brought daughter because she wanted to have a go, next thing you know, Maid Jessica is shooting against dad. I am pleased to report that they both enjoyed themselves and may be joining. I love seeing families take up the sport together. If you are a junior and a bit reliant on Mum or Dad's paycheck it makes it so much easier to get new bits when they play as well. Good move Jessica. Another new comer was Steve er, um, Steve Harris least that's what I think his name is. Shot really well for a beginner. Hopefully he enjoyed it enough to come again. Glenn arrived with a bright blue bow, freshly powder coated shoots well, eat your heart out Jacob.
Scores for the day:-
BP Glenn 378, Granddad Cec 376, Don't mention me Steve 376, Don't tie with me Brett 376, Uni Tim 374, Cup cake Gloria 358, Nic 358, Teabag 344.
We had a really big barebow section today so deserve a section of their own. Feathers shot a massive 350 well done Ray.
Fingers Ray 350 PB, BC Liam 318, Tom 262 PB, Leach Bait Bruce 252, Jessica 246 PB, Don 194.
That's about it for this week.
Look after yourselves.
