Well..things were a bit windy at the range on Saturday. Plenty of archers turned up to huddle behind any shelter that could be found. It was too windy to light a fire, so everyone had to stay rugged up. This may be solved shortly with the installation of a slow combustion wood heater and some removable panelling around our shelter. Stay tuned.
Well some fool forgot to take down all the scores of the board so I will wing it. We decided to shoot a one arrow round so we could all get back quickly to thaw out. I do know that Dan again smashed it with a 392. A very good score in windy conditions. it was great to see another new archer as Hayden had very respectable first round. Kathy had 6 layers of clothes on and looked like the Michelin man and apparently did not cope well with the wind. Sarah has her heart set on a new longbow and is improving with her recurve. Jarrah has a new bow and seems impressed with it. I'm sure he will shoot some good scores once he has it fully set up. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the day and Gloria's biscuits.
Next week we will be shooting 14 targets of IFAA on Saturday afternoon on the new range. For the uninitiated there are 14 targets from 7 Yards out to 80 yards and 4 arrows shot at each target. At least you know the distances but 4 shots at each target really shows any weaknesses in your form.
A big thank you to Alistair and Gary for all their hard work. We have had some IFAA targets in the past but hopefully this new 14 target range will see a heightened interest in IFAA and we can look to installing another 14.
