Macleay Valley the club of excitement 2011

Hi all sorry to be a day late but as they say better late than never. I have to say I have never been prouder of a club I've been a member of than this weekend. Stand up & take a bow Macleay Archers. The buzz & excitement was thick in the air and several members felt it. Huge amounts of work had to be undertaken and about 1/2 the club turned out to help, some who couldn't come Sunday came on Saturday to do their bit. Everybody did their bit & more complete with smiles & happy banter. It really was a fun place to be. The club looked like the parking lot for Ride-on -mower racing we had trailers, mowers, brush-cutters, Back-pack sprayers, big cutter things. the list goes on & on. Some members came Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The practise range & camping area were all mowed, Ride on mowers disappeared out on to the ranges followed by members with chain saws, pruning tools & rakes. The canteen kept the members watered & fed. It was just an exciting place to be. Thank you all so much it was just fantastic.
And now for the bit you have all been waiting for the scores.Top score this weekend was Strings Bruce with a jaw dropping 390, thats so good it almost brings a tear to the eye. On a more low key note grandad Cec again ground his heel on my toe and beat me into submission, at this point a collective sigh & utterance of poor Old Fart should have escaped from your lips. The score for the 3 arrow round are as follows:-
Strings Bruce 390, Don't tie with me Brett & Hitch-hiker Dion 386, Feathers Dave 378, Coins Alastair 376, Grandad Cec & DJ Gene 374, Old Fart Mike 370, Marty 366, Bowless Aaron 364, Executive Chef Darrin 352, Don't mention me Steve 346, Old Dryfire Gloria 304

  1. The weekend was hard, it was hot, but it was happy. I've been to a few working bees but none with more success than this weekend with the Macleay Valley Archers. Members be proud of your efforts. I had a smile on my face the whole weekend (migraine and all).
The canteen is clean and tidy and ready to serve :) Gloria and I are happy to help in any way which is needed (as long as its moral!!). Snack requests taken under advisement and comments are always listened too.. Please kindly note that notes from parents are needed if you are wanted to add to their tabs and requests as such may be denied without authorisation... I am truely happy to be in your canteen :)

  2. Just a lil note.. I was also very proud of MVA's youngest and smallest (soon to be) member on the weekend. Jordan worked hard right along side the grown ups without complaint. He sorted targets with the boys, picked up rubbish and added it to the burn pile, tried to add to his own cardboard box collection, ate verouciously from the canteen, passed messages to members from canteen staff and when all was said and done, played in the dirt with his cars. Oh what a life for a 6 year old!! Not one single complaint all weekend. The only thing missing was his bow (hiding in the depths of his grandfathers workshop for the moment after a mysterious dryfire).. Please make him welcome. Jordan is happy to help others and happy to accept help as well. I am proud to be one of his parents and so is his dad, Don't mention me Steve.. :)
