HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to ALL MUMS XO
Well here I am again sitting in front of the computer, thinking about what to write. I understand that statement might come as a shock to most of the readers, but yes I do actually think about the rubbish I write.
Well as I was going through this thought process I noticed that thinking about yesterday made me very happy and brought a smile to my face......but why.
Sport is many things to many people. To me archery is very special, not because I'm a great shot because I'm not, it really is the people and the nature of archery that's special. Our branch has over 1,000 members ranging from about 6 years to over 80, our club ranges from about 12 to over 70 we have singles, couples, families and obviously male & female shooters. We all play together, the shoot group can be male, female, young and old, all in together shooting arrows at the same target and all learning from each other. There are not many sports that can claim that. We are relatively accident free. All in all just a great family sport. As the archers came back from the range another thing struck me. 99% of them were really happy with their personal performance. there can only be 1 first place so how come everybody came in happy. Marty was happy he came first with a good score of 392, Ray was ecstatic with a 350, was it his best round, well no it wasn't but it was the first time he had gone round with no misses. Cec was happy, heck all that takes is beating me. Chris shot a 384 this was a PB by 16 points. no wonder he had a smile from ear to ear. Cupcake had a 352 about average for her but used 4 second arrows. she was so close to a PB. Karen had a good recovery from target 1 and got to talk girl talk with cupcake all arvo. They both had a great time. Neil had an average round but spent time with his son, how good is that. Glenn only scored 380 but he still got ribbed about his 394 last week, so he was happy. Al was so close to the magic 390, he couldn't be upset. Rob enjoyed the day. Teabag had a ball his arrows went more or less where he aimed and it just felt right.
As you know we had a working bee which once again was very well attended. Thanks everybody, without you we wouldn't have a club. Normally I wouldn't single people out for special mention as you usually upset somebody you didn't mention. This week I'm going to make an exception by mentioning 2 people. Young Josh Scott is about 13 and as boys do, he managed to break his arm/wrist. good excuse not to do anything but no, Josh came and found things to do. Thanks Josh. The other person is Garry Ward. Why Garry you ask, well Garry came just for the working bee then went home. He told me he was almost wetting himself with excitement. Thanks Garry great effort.
As some of you may know the club is thinking of getting a few 3D targets so we may be able to shoot 3D soon.
Scores for the day:
Martin Mcfly 392, Coins Alastair 388, Crusty Chris 384PB, BP Glenn 380, Granddad Cec 376, Cola Karen 372, Rob 366, All those Neil 358, Cupcake 352, Finger Ray 350 BB. Tea bag 124 DNF
For anybody wondering Martin is still a junior but shoots from the red peg so 392 really is a great score.
Don't forget the up-coming branch 3D titles at Singleton on the 25th & 26th of May. Nomination form is at the club house.
Till next time Take care & shoot straight.

Ps I was just looking at our stats and would you believe we have had somebody from Alaska having a look. Not sure what they will make of Aussie humour with a British twist.
