A quiet weekend at the archery club, with some members
travelling to Singleton for an away shoot. In the morning the updated
IFAA range was put to the test to check that all the distances were correct
(IFAA is a variation of the game where you shoot a known distance). It
was a great shoot and we plan to have club IFAA shoots from next month, held on
Saturday mornings. A big thank you to Alastair Smedley for getting the
range up and running again.
We had just five members shoot the Anthill range in the
afternoon. It would have been six except Alastair forgot to bring his quiver
which meant no arrows, or release aid and hense no shooting. Cec Apps managed
to get to the first target and then realised he hadn't put his scope on the bow
and had to go back to the club house to retrieve it before he could
start. A day of forgetfullness. During the shoot it was all very close
with the scores at the half way mark with only a couple of points between
everyone. The second half then proved more challenging and with the light
fading fast the last couple of targets were much harder to see and had an
impact on the end results.
Scores (max 400): Brett Hodgman 380, Karen
Smedley 378, Glenn Freeman 376, Cec Apps 372, Ray McManus 360.
Till next time
Cheers Teabag
