Club ABA 3 A 28/7/12
Well I am having a bit of trouble working out if I'm just easy to please or is the club just a super club to belong to. Saturday came around as it usually does, so off toTamban was the order of the day. The dog was in her kennel, bows were loaded, gear checked and off we went. About an hour later we arrived at the destination of our choice. We sat around for about an hour just chin wagging then started the BBQ where I incinerated a few hapless sausages, which most chomped through with a little effort, heck I had 3 so they couldn't be that bad. The vegetarians in the group applaud their choice every time they see me at the BBQ. There is nothing quite like the aroma of burning sausages and tortured onions to tempt the taste buds. Then shoot groups were drawn up and Cup cake, Coins Alastair & Cola Karen were the lucky winners of more time with me. Finally all was ready and of we trotted to the Goanna Range to see what surprises Fingers had in store for us today. 5 targets later I decided it was time for beddy-bies, but not before motivating my group to outstanding results. All in all I just have the best time. The good natured banter, willing help and genuine friendship all make Saturday at MVA a fantastic experience. Shooting arrows just adds to the enjoyment.
Scores:- Coins Alastair a whopping 394, Martin Mcfly 388, BP Glenn 378, Cola Karen & Grandad Cec 376, Cup cake Gloria 366, Scribe Neil 362, Mad Max Stuart 348, Chris 340, Home Brew Garry 338, Finger Ray 328, Old Yellow Peg & BC Liam PB 310, Leach bait Bruce 290, Tea bag DNF
Really well done Alastair that really is a mind blowing score.

warning if easily offended please don't read
Hi all I thought i'd post this as a community warning so to speak. Let me start by saying despite not shooting Sunday I had a fantastic weekend. By Tuesday my man bits were sore and causing me some discomfort . A quick check of the area told me they were hot and felt swollen. I tried really hard to have a look but a complete lack of flexibility and middle age spread made that impossible. As far as flexible goes genetics and sporting injuries mean that I can't even touch my toes, actually I get excited when I can reach my knees. I have worked out that middle aged spread is natures way of lowering my center of gravity which in turn helps me to stay up-right as I waddle around on 2 unstable legs.It also means that anything south of the navel is simply below the horizon. Now as I lent forward to try and see the problem, the problem area moved backwards allowing it to still stay below the horizon. Not to be out done by this small problem I marched into the bathroom for a look in the mirror. Now the mirror is over the sink, my eyesight is crap so I still can't see properly all though the said equipment does look about as red as my cars taillights. There is now nothing else I can do except find the good wife and ask for help, so of I go, pants around the knees shirt held up and offending area out there, I spy her ladyship at the computer and call out she turns and makes a rather funny sound, and muttered something that sounded like "not now I'm to busy" Not knowing what she was mumbling about, I marched up put the offending area as close as I dare and asked for an opinion re the swelling She then asked how she was supposed to know, I was expecting a bit much as it was over 40 years since she had last looked that closely. After much begging I finally heard a satisfied hum! and she pronounced yep there are 2 ticks in residence, stand still. Next thing I know my scrotum is being bathed in a liberal amount of fluid, for half a second this brought back happy memories of 40 years ago, then the slow but intense burn started. What the heck was that I inquired. Stop complaining I was told. Through tear filled eyes, I caught a glimpse of flashing stainless steel. The longest sharpest and biggest pair of tweezers I have ever seen rapidly disappeared below the horizon, followed by 2 tugs. I stood there somewhat shaken by all this, my pants had dropped to my ankles, the burning told me that my man bits and I were still attached to each other and the tears were slowly drying up. At this point she who must be obeyed, told me to move off as I was interfering with here game of scrabble and she was only 100 points ahead. Moral of this rant check carefully for ticks.

NNSW Branch Titles 21st-22nd July
WOW!, WOW!, WOW!, What a weekend, half our members turned up to play and play they did. Martin's new bow works 1548, hoppy Josh 1510, Gloria first time over 1400, Cec 1550, Garry 1496, Brett 1530, Karen 1500, Dave 1582, Alastair 1568, Kate 1st, Zac 3rd, Peter 3rd, Glenn 4th, Ray moved into A grade and still pulled a 3rd. Kate shot really well and I hope we see her more often. Stewart, Brad, Bruce, Liam & Teabag only shot day one. I must admit the weekend is a bit of a blur, It was sort off like watching your kids get married, you are not the main act but you can't help but feel pride. This club has one fantastic vibe. Thank you to who ever placed all the seats out on the range they really helped me stay upright and I for one really really appreciate it. The members of our shoot group even commented about how good they were. I guess the thought of mouth to mouth didn't thrill them. One family from Hunter came over and said what a great shoot it was. Granddad, Cup cake, Cola Karen and Feathers all came over to thank me for motivating them to the dizzy heights they all reached on the weekend. Well I'm sure that's what they meant to do, how else can their scores be explained. Scores 3a, 1a,2a total position

ABA 3A 14/7
Well in a state of euphoria I wrote down all the names & scores then put them somewhere safe. Then lost them, more or less in that order. From memory Brett shot 386, Alastair 380, Tea bag 372, Granddad 364,
Cupcake 356, sorry but that's all I can remember, if the missing link turns up I will update the scores. Finally I scored more than Cupcake. Granddad and I went head to head all arvo until about target 11 where I had a brain fade, missed with my first, hit exactly what I aimed at with the second, problem was I hadn't aimed on the target, but the bale slightly to the side. Lovely shot it was as well. Finally my third hit the a zone and Granddad moved 12 points ahead, with a lovely 20. By the time we reached the last target the gap had narrowed to only 6 points. Our last target was a group 1 rabbit. How on earth can you pick up 6 points on a group 1? All afternoon the light had been dull and on some targets it was like starring into a mine shaft, so it was on the last target. I peeped through my new 6 power lens, but no matter how long or how hard I looked the rabbit was nowhere to be seen. Fortunately the print was mounted on red corflute and I could make out a faint red line around the edges. In a stroke of brilliance I figured the rabbit had to be in the middle so I aimed at the middle......Bingo 18. Now granddad thought this quite funny and proceeded to explain how he could see the target. Cupcake went next and scored but said how hard it was to see. Then came granddad glasses off, glasses on, glasses off followed by strange noises mumbling about not been able to see. Arrow released followed by questions about its' location, which non of us could answer. Granddad stayed at the peg whilst the rest walked forward to find his arrow. That took a while, then we announced that he had missed. We all got out of the way and allowed him to miss again, by now I couldn't keep a straight face and my sides were getting sore from laughing. His third shot just managed a lowly 4. oh! heaven. I really would have had more sympathy if only he hadn't said he could see the target.
I should point out Granddad had the flu and by the last target had run out of steam. I should, but I'm not going to. Heck I beat him fair & square him & Cupcake.
Cheers all don't forget next week is the Branch titles here at Macleay.

ABA 3 arrow and working bee
Great working bee about 10 members arrived to contribute their time & energy. The practice range was mowed, new butts installed signage added. looked almost to good to use. The camping area was increased by about 43.5%, toilets cleaned admittedly it was a man clean but hey! canteen cleaned and the ranges started. All in all a very good effort. Thanks everybody.
As we wonder along life's journey it surprises me just where the roads lead. As you know distance and my driving speed means the trip home takes about an hour. Now this trip used to be quite pleasant, I would offer sage like advice on how my good wife could enhance her scores and we would pat me on the back about how well I shot, even if Cec & Karen had beaten me. All in all a pleasant journey home.Oh how the trip home has turned into a nightmare. Now all we talk about is PB's (hers), what I can do to catch her. Why my PB's only go up by a couple of points every 12 months. Why if only I could have hit target 12 with my first arrow and changed those two 16's into 20's I would have got close to she who must be obeyed and then we start on how much Cec and or Karen beat me bye. All in all a horrible trip home.
Scores for the day:- Feathers Dave 388, Steve 386, Coins Alastair 386, Home brew Garry 380, Cupcake Gloria & Grandad Cec 374, Jacob 372, Tea Bag 368, Scribe Neil 366, BP Glenn 360, Yellow Peg Stuart 328, SWR Brad 304, Finger Ray 300, Leach Bait Bruce 284.
Steve & Jacob are visitors from Goulburn, thanks for your company.

ABA 1 arrow 30 June
Hi all. As you now Cupcake & I went to Sale for the national IFAA titles, we then went to Geelong to see Sons, daughter in laws, Grand children and great grandchildren plus an old school mate from primary days ( about 55 years ago) & a brother and his wife. We survived torrential rain, floods, earthquakes and days with a maximum temp of 8 degrees. Spent a day Gold prospecting and found a gate, some metal pipe, nails, soft drink cans, several pie dishes but no gold.We shot 5 days of IFAA, spent a Saturday afternoon at an Archery Australia club shooting target, did the Tuggerah shoot and finished up at the club. All in all we traveled just over 3000 klms and shot between 700 & 800 arrows. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed ourselves. But just like slipping into a pair of favorite slippers we felt most comfortable at our home club with special friends. It was a pure joy to be bitten by ticks and leaches, even took one home and let it wonder across the lounge room floor. Fat little bugger he was as well. We shot with Alastair & Cec. It took a little while but I finally lowered them to my standard. Unfortunately, in the process I dropped my own scores. Cupcake again beat me as did granddad. Fortunately my other nemesis left the country when she heard I was returning. Well that's my story.
At next years AGM could I suggest that we have any nominations for range captain be subjected to some form of psychological testing. The one we have now is causing total havoc. Who in their right mind sets the first ten targets at minimum distance and the last ten at any distance. Feathers & Fingers are just plain evil.
Scores for the day:-
Feathers Dave 386, Home Brew Garry 376, Coins Alastair and Granddad Cec 362, Cupcake Gloria 328, Teabag 320, Chris 272, BC Liam 228, Leach bait Bruce 214, Finger Ray 180, Nick 152.
Cheers Teabag
